Coats, Hatt, and Edwards Named to Academic All-District Team

2024 ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT VOLLEYBALL: SELECTED BY COLLEGE SPORTS COMMUNICATORS

GREENWOOD, Ind.  -  Three members of Henderson State's volleyball team have been named to the 2024 Academic All-District Team selected by College Sports Communicators. Honorees include junior Savannah Coats, senior Madison Hatt, and senior Carson Edwards.

The 2024 Academic All-District Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

In order to be considered for the Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must maintain a GPA of 3.5 and appear in at least 90 percent of their team's games (or start in at least 60 percent of them).

Coats started all 30 of the Reddies' matches in 2024 - her first year with the program. She finished third on the team with 226 kills. A native of McHenry, Illinois, Coats is currently pursuing a degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing.

Hatt has been a member of the Reddie volleyball team for the past five seasons. She started in all 30 matches for HSU this year, posting her third straight season with more than 500 assists. During her time at Henderson, Hatt recorded 2,184 assists, becoming just the eighth player in school history to post 2,000 career assists. Originally from Frisco, Texas, she is set to receive a degree in health and physical education in the spring.

Edwards played for Henderson State's volleyball program from 2022 until her graduation in the fall of 2024. She appeared in 68 matches for the Reddies, including a career-high 29 matches this year alone. In 2024, Edwards posted a career-best 180 digs to bring her career total to 329. Across her time at HSU, she also had 30 service aces and 13 total blocks. The Lubbock, Texas, native received her Bachelor of Science in Pre-Occupational Health and Human Performance earlier this month.
