ADA, Okla. - Henderson State dropped the second game of its weekend road trip by a score of 66-61 at East Central on Saturday.
After trailing by 17 at the end of the first quarter, the Reddies cut the deficit to 13 before halftime. Both teams posted 24 points in third quarter. In the fourth, HSUÂ cut the deficit to as little as a single point, but the Tigers found a way to stave off Henderson's comeback long enough to secure the win.
Brynlee Huggins led the team with 21Â points while shooting 41.2 percent from the floor. It was her second game with four or more three-pointers made this season.
Michaela Mayfield had a season-high 14 points in the loss. The Gurdon, Arkansas, native posted a game-best plus-minus rating of plus-19 and made four of her five attempts from three-point range.
Makenna Winans recorded nine rebounds to improve her team-leading average to 7.8 rebounds per game.
Sam Basson had a season-high six assists in Saturday's contest.
Next week, the Reddies will be back in the Natural State for two GAC games. The first of those matchups will pit HSU against Arkansas Tech in another road test. Tip-off at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville, Arkansas, is slated for 5:30 p.m on Thursday, December 12.
