ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The quest for the ultimate collegiate prize of a national championship begins Tuesday, Mar. 12 for the Henderson State Red Wave at the SPIRE Institute Aquatics Center in Geneva, Ohio.

The Reddies bring to the 2024 National Championships five of the top individual overall seeds. Lamar Taylor, the defending National Champion in the 50-yard freestyle, 100 free and 100 backstroke, holds the top spot in the 50 free (19.12) while teammate Jack Armstrong has the time-to-beat in the 100 free (42.76).

Jase Pinckney of the Red Wave men joins Taylor and Armstrong with a top overall time, coming into the week pacing the field in the 100 butterfly (46.02). On the women's side, Kiara Pozvai lays claim to the top spot in the 50 (22.33) and 100 free (48.82).

Wednesday-Saturday, prelims of the day's individual events will begin at 9 a.m. CT with the finals beginning at 4:30 p.m. CT. Each evening, the relay event of that day will close out competition.

Kicking off the five-day meet is the 800 free relay Tuesday night at 5 p.m. CT. The men's quartet will compete as the 13th overall seed to kick off the championship run.

Wednesday will begin Taylor's title defense in the 50 free on the men's side while Pozvai will look to build on her fourth-place finish at last year's Nationals in the same event for the women. In addition to Taylor, Armstrong (19.20) is competing as the two seed followed by Pinckney (19.85) in the 13th spot.

In the final event of day two, the men's 200 medley relay (1:26.66) will compete as the eight overall seed.

On Thursday, Pinckney will swim the 100 fly as the top seed while Armstrong will join Pinckney (46.74) as the six seed in what will be his second individual swim of the week. After the men's 100 fly, Pozvai will swim her second individual race in the 200 free (1:48.75) as the 10 seed.

Thursday's night cap will be the 400 medley relay, featuring the men's fourth-seeded quartet (3:10.34). At last year's National Championships in this event, the men took fifth with a time of 3:10.97.

Friday will feature Taylor (46.56, 3rd) and Pozvai (54.32, 5th) in the 100 backstroke. Mark Eberhard will be making his individual Nationals debut in the 100 breaststroke (55.00, 24th) before Pinckney swims his third individual event of the week in the 200 fly (1.46.35, 7th).

The penultimate night will be capped off with the women's 200 free relay (1:33.36, 17th) followed by the men's quartet (1:17.91, 2nd).

The final day will show Taylor go for his third title defense in the 100 free, where he is the second overall seed at 43.09 while Armstrong owns the top spot at 42.76. Pozvai's 100 free will be her third individual race of the week, where she has a first-place 48.82 slot.

The final event of the 2024 National Championships will be the 400 free relay, as the men will look to better their second-seed slot with a time of 2.54.31.
