Argenbright Ties Doubles Record in 5-1 Loss to Tigers

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Henderson State's Kaden Argenbright recorded two hits on the afternoon against Ouachita Baptist, both of which were doubles, as he tied former teammate Greyson Stevens for the most career doubles in program history with 60.

True freshman Cal Jones joined Argenbright with a pair of hits, but those two were responsible for all but one hit on the afternoon as the Reddies fell to Ouachita Baptist in the first of five meetings this season, 5-1.

Argenbright is now up to nine doubles on the season while Jones is now leading the team with a .342 batting average and a .605 slugging percentage.

Starting pitcher Ryan Galvan threw four innings, going 2.2 frames before giving up a two-out, two-run homer in the third that would stand to be the momentum shift the Tigers were looking for.

Henderson struggled to get much offense going, stranding two runners in the fifth on what looked to HSU's best chance at getting back in the game. Play remained a two-run contest before the Reddies were able to get one back in the seventh only to have OUA reestablish the two-run lead in the home-half of the frame.

Later in that same inning, a wild pitch brought home another Tiger to make the lead 4-1 and the red-and-gray took one on the chin in the non-conference season-opener of the cross-street rivalry, 5-1.

Henderson St. (10-10, 5-4 GAC) will remain in the Natural State this weekend when it heads to Magnolia, Ark. for a three-game series with No. 7 Southern Arkansas beginning Saturday, Mar. 9 at 5 p.m.
