Box Score DENTON, Texas - Just over 12 hours after claiming a five-set win over Pitt State, Henderson State suffered its first defeat of the season in a four-set loss to Arkansas-Fort Smith on Friday.
After dropping the first set 25-21, the Reddies bounced back by taking set two by a score of 25-22. The Lions outscored HSU 25-17 in the third set before sealing the win a decisive 25-23 fourth set victory.
Katilyn Steffes provided significant contributions on offense and defense with 15 kills, two blocks, and 17 digs.
Cassidi Campbell led the Reddies' frontline with six blocks. Christiane Uzoh came up four blocks and ten kills of her own.Â
Defensive specialist Kaylon Partain paced the team with 30 digs and three service aces.
Setters Madison Hatt and Braxton Jones recorded a combined 38 assists.
Tomorrow, the Reddies will compete in two matches to close out Denton Volleyfest. The first match against Texas Woman's University will open up day three of the tournament at 9:00 a.m. Henderson's final match of the weekend against Midwestern State is slated for a 2:00 p.m. start.
