Reddies Aim to Split Season Series with ECU

WBB GAME NOTES VS. EAST CENTRAL: JANUARY 30, 2025

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.  -  Henderson State aims to split its season series with ECU when the Tigers come to town on Thursday, January 30. Tip-off at the Duke Wells Center is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

REDDIES REPORT
HSU returns to the Duke Wells Center after securing its first sweep of the 2024-25 GAC season with a win at Southern Arkansas (75-68). The Reddies will be looking to get even with the visiting Tigers after suffering a five-point loss in Ada in Decemeber. Henderson State has not lost to ECU at home since 2022 (a 76-71 result).

Brynlee Huggins made a career-best six three-pointers en route to a 23-point day at SAU. The junior from Pangburn, Arkansas, leads the Great American Conference with 52 threes made this season.

Sam Basson set a new career high with 18 points against the Muleriders. She has recorded three or more assists in six of her last eight games.

Natalie Cardenas led the Reddies with eight rebounds and four assists on Saturday. She also posted a double-digit scoring total for the eighth time in 2024-25 (15 points).

Makenna Winans remains one of the league's top five rebounders with 7.6 boards per game.

Since the start of conference play, HSU is ranked fourth in the GAC with 66.9 points per game.

SCOUTING EAST CENTRAL
East Central aims to sweep the season series agianst Henderson State for the first time since 2018-19. The Tigers are coming off of a four-game homestand where they went 2-2 at the Kerr Activities Center.

Katie Edelen led the team with 19 points and three steals in Saturday's win versus Northwestern Oklahoma State. Edelen's 14 points per game average is ranked seventh in the GAC.

Eva Fernandez is fourth in the league with 3.8 assists per game. She had six in ECU's win against the Rangers. The junior from Gijon, Spain, also holds a share of tenth place on the conference leaderboard for steals (1.5 per game).

At 60.7 points allowed per game since the beginning of GAC play, East Central's defense is fourth in the league. The team's turnover margin of 0.25 is the fifth-best in the conference during that span.
