ARKADELPHIA, Ark. Â - Â Henderson State will travel to Arkansas-Monticello for its first game of the 2025 calendar year. Tip-off at Steelman Field House is slated for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 5.
REDDIES NOTES
Henderson State returns from the holiday break after winning two of its last three outings in December. The Reddies will be looking to redeem a loss in their last trip to UAM on February 17, 2024. Before that, HSU had won six consecutive meetings with the Blossoms.
Brynlee Huggins led the charge with 20 points in a victorious effort against Southern Arkansas. The junior from Pangburn, Arkansas, leads the GAC with 32 three-pointers made - six more than any other player in the conference this season.
Since returning from injury on November 30,
Natalie Cardenas has posted double-digit point totals in four of six games. Her 15.8 points per game average leads the team.
Although she has started in only one game during the 2024-25 campaign,
Makenna Winans is currently fourth in the conference with 8.2 rebounds per game. She has recorded nine or more boards in four of her last five outings (including two efforts of 12 or more).
Bobbi Bazzle continues to serve as an interior threat on both ends of the floor. She is fourth in the Great American Conference with 3.2 offensive rebounds per game and tied for sixth in the league with 1.1 blocks per game.
SCOUTING UAM
Arkansas-Monticello enters Saturday's contest on the heels of back-to-back wins over Ouachita Baptist and Arkansas Tech to close out the 2024 calendar year. The Blossoms have hosted only one conference game at home this season: a 76-69 overtime win over OBU.
UAM had three players reach double figures in its last win at Arkansas Tech. Freshman Alyssa Batton led the way with 13 points. The Blossoms have had a different leading scorer in each of their first five GAC games (Batton, Kelsey Blakemore, Bailey Harris, Camille Pritchard, Haleigh Crews).
Kelsey Blakemore is top 20 in the Great American Conference in both rebounds per game (5.3) and assists per game (2.3). She paced the team with three assists in the win against Arkansas Tech.
The Blossoms' average of 71.1 points per game is second in the GAC.
