ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State returns home to the Duke Wells Center this week for a two-day homestand against Oklahoma Baptist on October 23rd at 6:00 PM, and Southern Nazarene on October 24th at 4:00 PM.
Henderson State are coming off a road trip where they split their matches. They won against Southeastern Oklahoma State (3-0) and lost to East Central (3-1).
The Reddie offense is led by Senior
Katilyn Steffes, who remains the national leader in kills with 349, while leading the GAC in kills per set (4.47).
Kelis Battles ranks second on the team, collecting 242 kills while averaging 2.81 kills per set. Freshman
Berkeley Berry is currently leading the team with 34 service aces, which is tied for third in the GAC.
Tyhia Mack currently orchestrates the offense, as she leads the team with assists (446) and assists per set (5.37). Sophomore
Skylar Holler contributes meaningfully to the setter position, as they follow Mack in assists with 216, averaging 4.24 assists per set.
Defensively,
Kaylon Partain currently ranks first in the nation and the GAC this season in total digs (505), while also leading the GAC in digs per set with 5.94. Steffes and Berry rank behind Partain on the team, collecting 279 and 195 digs respectively.
At the net, the Reddies continue to show strength, as they rank second in the GAC in total blocks (188.5), and blocks per set (2.20). Junior
Cassidi Campbell is tied for second in the GAC and leads the team individually, with 93 total blocks and blocks per set (1.09), while Steffes ranks second in blocks (45.0), and
Rylee Smith third (37.0).
Scouting Oklahoma Baptist (15-6, 7-2)
The Bison are coming off a 2-0 road trip, where they defeated Southern Arkansas (3-1) and Arkansas-Monticello (3-0).
Offensively, OBU is led by junior duo Rylee Unruh, who leads the team with 208 kills, and Allie Stricker who ranks second with 200. Unruh leads the team with 3.01 kills per set. Emily Boyer commands the offense as she leads the team with 426 assists, while Madi Barnes ranks second with 282. Unruh ranks tied for third in the GAC with 34 service aces, while Boyer is tied for fifth with 30.
On the defensive side, Karsyn Hunter is the team leader in digs (318), while Unruh ranks second with 205 digs. Hunter leads Oklahoma Baptist in digs per set (4.42). At the net, Mackenzie Frazee ranks fourth in the GAC and leads the team in blocks (77.0). Lauren Safrit ranks second with 37.0 blocks.
The Reddies lost to Oklahoma Baptist the last time they met, dropping 3-1 in Shawnee. When playing at home in the Duke Wells Center, HSU is 1-3 against the Bison, holding a 3-8 record all-time.
Scouting Southern Nazarene (8-13, 3-6)
SNU had a perfect week at home, as they bested Oklahoma Christian (3-1), before sweeping Arkansas-Monticello (3-0), and defeating Southern Arkansas (3-2).
Kate Wright leads the offense for the Crimson Storm, as she leads the team in kills (212) and kills per set (3.48). Riley Richardson ranks second with 108 kills. Brelee Mauldin orchestrates the offense for SNU, as she leads the team with 412 assists, averaging 6.34 assists per set. Hannah Morgan is tied for fifth in the GAC in service aces, as she leads the team with 30.
Defensively, SNU is led by Megan Branson, who leads the team with 175 digs, while Sydney Marquez ranks second with 149. At the net, Riley Richardson leads the team in blocks (41.0) and blocks per set (0.57), while Morgan ranks second with 34.0 blocks.
Henderson State was beaten the last time they faced SNU, falling on the road 3-2. When playing at home in the Duke Wells Center, the Reddies are 4-1, and hold a 6-7 all-time record against the Crimson Storm.
