Henderson State Sets Eyes on Second Battle of the Ravine Meeting of the Season

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Reddies will travel across the street in a Battle of the Ravine rematch looking to get back on track before a four-game home stand.
 
In the last meeting between these two teams the Reddies shot 51 percent from the field and 50 percent from three. Against the Tigers the Reddies shot a season-high 83.3 percent from the free throw line.
 
Against the Tigers the Reddies were outrebounded by just two rebounds but held the conference's leading rebounder to just four rebounds and held him to below his season average in points.
 
Nehikhare Igiehon continued his dominance in the last outing versus Southwestern. Igiehon, currently averaging 14.5 ppg on 55.9 percent shooting from the field scored a season high 27 points against the Bulldogs. Igiehon has scored in double-digits in 14 of 16 conference games. In two of the Reddies past three outings Igiehon has scored 23+ or more.
 
The Reddies currently rank 21st in the country in field goal percentage and 55th in the country in bench points per game. The Reddies also rank third in the conference in team field goal percentage during conference play while ranking fourth in offense.
 
Henderson State remains one of the best rebounding teams in the conference. The Reddies are averaging 34.6 rpg while holding opponents to 32.3 rpg in conference play. A +2.4 margin is good for third best in the conference.
 
The Tigers are coming off an Oklahoma trip where the split the series against Southwestern and Northwestern. Against Southwestern Ouachita Baptist fell 70-66. The Tigers were held in check by the Bulldogs, the conference's second leading scorer and leading rebounder, Hobert Grayson was held to just 13 points on 5-22 shooting. Grayson grabbed 20 rebounds, nine being offensive against the Bulldogs. Grayson was named this week's GAC Defensive Player of the Week.
 
In the Tigers second game of the week, they went down to the wire with the red-hot Rangers. The Tigers were outscored by eight points in the second half but held on late to win 79-78. The duo of Grayson and Shaun Williams played all but four minutes of the game between the two. Grayson scored 22 points and Williams added 21, the duo combined for 5-14 shooting from distance.
 
The Tigers currently sit tied for third in the conference with Harding. Ouachita Baptist leads the conference in offense during conference play while having two of the conference's top five scorers. As a team the Tigers rank third in three-point percentage at 35.7 percent but defend the three-point line at a mark of 35.2 percent, tied for the worst mark in the conference.
 
Ouachita Baptist is led by head coach Dennis Nutt who is in his 14th season with the Tigers. Nutt has led the Tigers to two GAC tournament championships and a regular season title.
 
Players to Watch:
Against Ouachita Baptist on January 23 Nehikhare Igiehon scored a then season-high 23 points on 9-15 shooting from the field while hauling in seven rebounds.
 
Without Matthew Mayes and Tim McDonald in the last meeting Xavier Owens scored 14 points and was a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.
