Reddies Win by 25 Points in First of Four Straight Games at Home

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State earns its third series sweep of conference play with a 25-point victory versus Arkansas-Monticello.
 
Despite just a three-point win at Monticello in early January the Reddies came into the Duke Wells Center and dominated from start to finish. HSU led UAM for nearly all 40 minutes, leading at the half by 26 and the largest lead reaching 31 in the second half.
 
Henderson State had five players score in double digits and all rotational players had a positive +/-. Jameel Wesley II and Nehikhare Igiehon led all players in +/- with +21. The Reddies won the turnover battle, forcing 13 turnovers and committing just four. The Reddies scored 21 points off turnovers, added 42 points in the paint and scored 11 fast break points to just two for the Boll Weevils.
 
Xavier Owens started off hot in the first half, scoring all 16 points in the first half on 6-9 shooting from the field, including 3-3 shooting from distance. Owens added six rebounds and had his best performance since Champion Christian early in the season.
 
Igiehon added another great game to his All-GAC level season. Igiehon scored 16 points on 80 percent shooting from the field, Igiehon has scored in double digits in 16 of 18 games this season and is fifth in the conference in field goal percentage during conference play (min. 100 FGA).
 
With the win the Reddies improve to 14-10 overall and 10-8 in conference play. HSU now sits alone in fifth in the conference standings while awaiting Harding's game versus Southern Arkansas at home.

The Reddies look to avenge a three-point loss at Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday at home at 7:30 p.m. versus the Bison.
