Reddies Drop Two on Sunday at Southeastern Oklahoma

DURANT, Okla. — Henderson State was on the short end of both games of Sunday's doubleheader at Southeastern Oklahoma State, as the Reddies fell by scores of 11-7 and 6-5.

HSU will look to bounce back on Tuesday at 4 p.m. when it hosts Arkansas-Fort Smith in midweek action at Clyde Berry Field.

GAME ONE: SOUTHEASTERN 11, HENDERSON STATE 7
A 6-4 lead in the eighth inning could not hold up for the Reddies in game one of the doubleheader, as the Savage Storm exploded for seven runs in the bottom half of the eighth to storm back and defeat Henderson 11-7 to win the GAC weekend series.

Southeastern had six hits in the inning, including two home runs, and took advantage of an error, two walks and a wild pitch. Trailing 11-6 in the ninth, the Reddies added a run and brought the tying run to the plate, but a ground out left the bases loaded to end the game.

Louis Holt was 3-for-5 with two doubles to lead HSU while both Luke Rice and Alex Galvan also finished with two hits. Cole Rodriguez earned a no-decision as the starter for the Reddies by allowing two earned runs on seven hits in five innings of work.

GAME TWO: SOUTHEASTERN 6, HENDERSON STATE 5 (7 INN.)
A wild late game rally fell just short for Henderson is the series finale where the Reddies fell to the Savage Storm 6-5.

Down 6-0 in the top of the seventh and down to their final three outs, the Reddies put together a furious rally, scoring five runs on four hits. All five runs came courtesy of two home runs — a three-run shot from Jeremy Schork and a two-run bomb from Luke Farrar.

HSU had an opportunity to tie or take the lead, and brought the go-ahead run to the plate with one out, but a fly out and strikeout ended things on a sour note in the third game of the series.

Schork's home run was his seventh of the season. He finished with two hits and three RBIs. Farrar went 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in two on his home run. Tripp Campbell also had two hits, including a double.
