Reddies Fall to Golden Suns in Final Home Game

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.  —  Henderson State closed out the home portion of its 2024-25 schedule with a 71-66 loss to Arkansas Tech on Thursday night.

The Reddies outscored the Golden Suns in each of the first three quarters, giving HSU a seven-point lead heading into the final 10 minutes of play. In the final period, however, ATU won the scoring battle 23-11 to pick up the victory in the team's final road game of the season.

After the game, Henderson recognized its three graduating team members - Bobbi Bazzle, Michaela Mayfield, and Makenna Winans - in a Senior Night ceremony. All three seniors started for the Reddies on Thursday.

Winans recorded 14 rebounds - her second-highest total in a single game during the 2024-25 campaign - in her final game at the Duke Wells Center. In doing so, the Parkersburg, West Virginia, native reached 200 rebounds in a season for the first time in her HSU career. She also tied a season high with eight points scored and led the team with two steals.

Bazzle collected five rebounds, bringing her season total to a career-high 169 boards. The four-year Reddie veteran shot three-of-five from the floor and finished the night with seven points.

Mayfield got the scoring started with a made three-pointer on the first possession of the game. She ended up posting seven points, a block, and a steal by the final buzzer.

Natalie Cardenas paced the team with 17 points. Sam Basson also reached double figures by scoring 11.

Brynlee Huggins led the Reddies with five assists in the loss.

Henderson will close out the regular season at Harding on Saturday, Mar. 1. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
