HSU Drops First Game of Oklahoma Road Trip

ALVA, Okla. – The Reddies made the long journey to Alva, Oklahoma falling on the road to the hot Rangers.
 
In the Reddies last outing Rondae Hill came up big, scoring an and-one layup with seconds remaining and knocking down the free throw for the win. Against the Rangers HSU fell behind early and struggled to regain any momentum needed for a comeback, falling 90-81.
 
Matthew Mayes led the Reddies, scoring 15 points in the first half on his way to 22 points. Mayes shot 8-12 from the field and grabbed five rebounds. Mayes and Hill both scored 20+ points and were the only Reddies to connect on more than one three.
 
As a team the Reddies shot 48.1 percent from and had 27 points contributed off the bench. The Reddies had four players score in double digits, but had just two players score off the bench.
 
The Rangers have won six of their last seven games since falling to HSU in early January.

The Reddies are back in action at 1 p.m. versus Southwestern in Weatherford, Okla.
