Reddie Rally Falls Short Versus Mississippi College

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.  — Henderson State lost its midweek matchup with Mississippi College at Clyde Berry Field on Wednesday. The Choctaws won the game by a score of 8-6.

Mississippi College opened up the game with three unanswered runs in its first three trips to the plate. The Reddies got on the board in the bottom half of the third with a tape-measure home run from Luke Farrar and a deep sacrifice fly from Austin Scritchfield. Dylan Block tied up the game in the fourth with a solo homer of his own, and the score held at 3-3 through the fifth inning. In the sixth, Bryce LaRocca put the visitors back on top with an RBI triple. Over the next three innings, the Choctaws tacked on four insurance runs.

In the bottom of the ninth, Jaxson Gregg scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to four. That deficit was then split in half by a two-out, two-run double from Cal Jones. Although Jones served as the potential tying run, HSU couldn't find a way to bring him home from scoring position.

Gregg led all Reddie batters with three hits in the loss. The senior from Keller, Texas, doubled twice, scored twice, and reached base a total of four times.

Jones finished the day with two hits and a walk.

Farrar's home run was his fourth of the season. Block's round-tripper was his second of the 2025 campaign.

Tripp Campbell, Nate Moore, and Jeremy Schork also joined the Henderson hit parade. In addition to his base hit, Schork drew two walks and scored a run.

Scritchfield walked twice and scored once against Mississippi College.

Baylor Brumley allowed no runs nor any hits in 1.2 innings of relief work.

This weekend, the Reddies will hit the road to face Oklahoma Baptist in a conference series in Shawnee. The three-game set will begin with a single game at 6 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 14.
