ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Reddies took on the Arkansas-Monticello Cotton Blossoms at home for their fourth GAC matchup of the season, winning 3-0.
The Reddies had a strong showing tonight, with
Katilyn Steffes leading the way offensively, as she collected 16 kills on the day.
Kelis Battles followed with nine.
Tyhia Mack continued to orchestrate the offense, leading the team with 18 assists, while
Skylar Holler provided 10.
Berkeley Berry continues to lead the team in service aces, collecting three. On the defensive side,
Kaylon Partain, Steffes, and Berry all tied for a team leading 12 digs on the night.
Cassidi Campbell continues to dominate at the net, recording four total blocks on the night.
"I'm happy with our offense" said Coach McDaniel, "while we need to work on our defensive rotations, I'm happy with our performance tonight. We just need to clean up a few things, but love winning at home."

The first set got off to a strong start for the Reddies, as they used a 5-0 run to take a strong lead 7-2. Henderson continued the pressure and forced a Blossoms timeout with the score at 10-3. UAM would not give up easily however, and pushed back, as they climbed back to bring the score to 20-17. Three kills by
Katilyn Steffes staved off the comeback however, and The Reddies were able to win the first set 25-21.
The second set was closer to start, as the Blossoms took an early lead, but the Reddies tied it at 4-4. Both teams exchanged points before a 6-0 run led by three kills by Steffes gave the Reddies a 16-7 lead, which forced the Blossoms to take a timeout. Another 4-0 run by the Reddies gave them a 20-8 lead. UAM were only able to score a few more points, before kills by Steffes and
Melia Smith won the Reddies set two, 25-13.
In the third set, both teams exchanged points early, until a kill and service ace by
Kelis Battles gave the Reddies a 6-5 lead. A service ace by
Meadow Jones extended Henderson's led to 10-6. Another 4-0 run gave the Reddies a 14-7 lead. While the Blossoms scored two straights to attempt a comeback, kills by Steffes and Battles forced UAM to take a timeout. Two straight service aces by
Berkeley Berry gave the Reddies a 22-11 lead, and two kills by
Lasheena Gooseberry brought it to set point. While the Blossoms were able to bring the score to 24-16,
Katilyn Steffes brought the final kill to win the set and match, 25-16.
