Women's Golf Climbs Leaderboard, Falls in Playoff at Grace Shin Invitational

EDMOND, Okla. – Henderson State women's golf made its way up the leaderboard Tuesday, but could not find the podium, finishing second at the Grace Shin Invitational at the Golf Club of Edmond.

The Reddies finished in a tie for first place through the 36 regulation holes, but they found themselves tied with Southeastern Oklahoma. The two teams then entered a playoff in which all five players from both sides took part. On the first playoff hole, the first group for HSU found themselves in an early deficit: SEOSU found themselves with a par and a birdie, while the Reddies carded two pars and a double bogey, clinching the victory for the Savage Storm after just one playoff hole.

Audrey McCallum led the way for the Reddies on Tuesday with a one-under par 70. She found herself in a tie for 11th after jumping 13 spots on the leaderboard, thanks in part to three birdies to just two bogeys.

Hailey Coleman and Bella Gutierrez each moved up 20 spots individually to tie for 22nd and 31st place, respectively. Coleman carded one of her best rounds of the year with an even-par 71 after two birdies and two bogeys on the day. Gutierrez improved by six strokes on her round two score with a one-over 72, using 17 pars on the day to steady her score.

Lora Jones dropped just one spot on Tuesday after a two-over 73, with three birdies unable to overcome five bogeys on the day. Jones finished in a tie for 20th place.

Teagen Muldoon garnered a top-15 finish, tying for 15th place after a five-over 76 to finish +4 for the tournament. A streak of seven consecutive bogeys proved to be a tough stretch for the freshman.

The Reddies will have to turn around quickly as they prepare for the Battle for the Belt. The tournament, hosted by Henderson State, will take place Sunday (36 holes) and Monday (18 holes).
