MONTICELLO, Ark. — Henderson State baseball could not take advantage of Friday night's comeback win and was swept in a doubleheader against the University of Arkansas-Monticello on Saturday afternoon.

Game 1: UAM 10, HSU 8

Henderson State University built an early lead but could not hold off University of Arkansas at Monticello in a 10-8 loss in the opener of a Great American Conference doubleheader Saturday at Union Bank Park.

The Reddies (8-6, 2-6 GAC) scored five runs in the second inning and added three more in the fourth to take an 8-4 lead.

In the second, Henderson State capitalized on an error and a passed ball before Boe Rodriguez delivered a three-run home run to left. The blast gave the Reddies a 5-0 cushion.

Arkansas-Monticello answered with four runs in the bottom half of the inning, using three hits and a walk to cut the margin to one.

The Reddies responded in the fourth. Tanner Ross hit a two-run home run to right-center, scoring Tripp Campbell. Later in the inning, Adam Garcia singled home Cooper McClure to extend the lead to 8-4.

Henderson State finished with 14 hits. Ross went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a home run. Nate Moore collected three hits and stole two bases. Grant Fitch added two hits off the bench, and Tripp Campbell doubled among his two hits.

Arkansas-Monticello (9-6, 7-1 GAC) seized control in the sixth. The Weevils scored five runs on four hits, including a two-run double by Eli Marvin that gave the home team a 9-8 lead.
The Weevils added an insurance run in the eighth after an error allowed a run to score.

Luke Sides (1-1) took the loss in relief for the Reddies. Bryce McGuire (2-1) earned the win, and John White recorded the final six outs for the save.
