Reddies Remain Perfect, Take Down UAFS 21-11

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State answered an eight-run inning from Arkansas-Fort Smith with steady offense of its own and pulled away for a 21-11 victory Sunday at Clyde Berry Field in eight innings.

HSU finishes the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record in the 2026 HSU Invitational; the team scored 46 runs over the four games played.


The Reddies (4-0) scored in six of eight innings, finished with 17 hits, and did not commit an error. Cale Edmonds earned the win in relief, throwing two shutout innings to close the game.


Henderson State struck first in the opening inning. Mason Krznarich hit a solo home run to right, and after a single and a walk, Boe Rodriguez drove a three-run homer to center to give the Reddies a 4-0 lead.


The Reddies added two runs in the second. Nate Moore singled and scored on Krznarich's triple to center. Krznarich later crossed on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 6-0.


Arkansas-Fort Smith answered with eight runs in the third, collecting six hits and drawing three walks to move in front 8-6. The Lions added three more in the fifth to take an 11-8 lead.


HSU regained control in the bottom of the fifth. Krznarich hit his second home run of the game, and Rodriguez followed later in the inning with a two-run homer of his own to tie the score at 11.

The Reddies moved ahead for good in the sixth. Edmonds singled and later scored on a walk by Tripp Campbell. Adam Garcia drove in Moore with a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded to make it 13-11.

Henderson broke the game open in the seventh with seven runs. Campbell delivered an RBI single, and Hank Penfield capped the inning with a grand slam to left. Penfield finished with five RBIs.


Rodriguez drove in five runs on his two home runs. Krznarich went 3 for 4 with a triple, two home runs, and three RBIs. Tanner Ross added three hits and scored four times, while Campbell scored three runs and drove in two.


Collin Wheat started the game for Henderson and allowed seven runs in 2 1/3 innings. Henderson State used four relievers in the game, including Brennan Jarreau, who worked 1 2/3 scoreless innings, and Edmonds (1-0), who retired six of seven batters to secure the win.


The Reddies stranded 12 runners but drew 13 walks and were hit by five pitches in the win. Arkansas-Fort Smith used six pitchers and issued 13 walks.


Henderson returns to action Friday, February 13th, as they travel to East Central for a three-game series to open GAC play.
