Season Ends for Men's Basketball at GAC Tournament

FORT SMITH, Ark. — Henderson State built a halftime lead but could not hold off Oklahoma Baptist in the second half as the Bison pulled away for an 85–70 win Thursday at Northside Arena.

The Reddies (11-18) led 40-35 at the break after shooting 53 percent in the first half and using an 11-0 run to take their largest lead. Oklahoma Baptist (27-2) answered after halftime, scoring 50 points in the second period to take control.


Zaveion Okoh led Henderson State with 21 points on 10-of-20 shooting. Jameel Wesley II added 17 points and hit three 3-pointers, while KJ Sykes finished with 12. Jabari West grabbed 17 rebounds to pace the Reddies on the glass.


Henderson State held a five-point lead at halftime and pushed the margin to 11 late in the first half. Oklahoma Baptist closed the gap before the break and surged ahead during the opening minutes of the second half.


Joshua Udoumoh scored 21 points to lead the Bison. Terry Coner Jr. added 20 points and five steals, and Jackson Greene finished with 12 points and seven rebounds. Oklahoma Baptist shot 57 percent in the second half and went 24-for-34 at the free-throw line.


The Bison also received a boost from their bench, which produced 41 points.


Henderson State shot 46 percent from the field and made a season-high eight 3-pointers but struggled at the free-throw line, hitting 4 of 16 attempts.


The Reddies finish 11-18 on the season.
