Baseball Season Ends After Doubleheader Sweep

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State dropped both ends of a conference doubleheader to Ouachita Baptist on Saturday at Clyde Berry Field, falling 10-4 in Game 1 and 14-3 in Game 2. The season ends for the Reddies after failing to qualify for the conference tournament.

Game 1: Ouachita Baptist 10, Henderson State 4

Ouachita Baptist used a five-run third inning to seize control and never trailed in a 10-4 win over Henderson State.

The Reddies took an early lead in the second inning when Nate Moore drew a bases-loaded walk to score Mason Krznarich. Henderson State held that 1-0 edge until the third, when Ouachita Baptist capitalized on two errors and a three-run home run to post five runs, all unearned.

The Tigers added three more runs in the fourth to extend the margin to 8-1. Starter Dawson Goines (2-5) took the loss after allowing eight runs, three earned, across three innings.

Henderson State answered in the sixth inning. Boe Rodriguez delivered a two-run double to left center that scored Krznarich and Adam Garcia, cutting the deficit to 10-3.

Krznarich led the Reddies at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs, and an RBI. Rodriguez added two hits and two RBIs, while Garcia recorded two hits.

The Reddies plated one more run in the seventh on an RBI single from Krznarich, but the rally ended there as Ouachita Baptist closed out the game.

Game 2: Ouachita Baptist 14, Henderson State 3

Henderson State carried a lead into the sixth inning before Ouachita Baptist erupted late in a 14-3 loss in the nightcap.

The Reddies struck first in the second inning when Mason Krznarich hit a solo home run to center field. Starting pitcher Rhett Richardson held the Tigers to one run over five innings, keeping Henderson State in front entering the sixth.

Ouachita Baptist broke the game open in the sixth. A three-run home run highlighted an eight-run frame that flipped a 1-0 deficit into a 9-1 lead. The Tigers added six more runs in the seventh to extend the margin.

Henderson State responded in the bottom of the sixth when Tanner Ross hit a two-run home run after reaching on an error, extending the inning. The Reddies managed six hits but did not score after the sixth.

Krznarich and Ross each homered for Henderson State, accounting for all three runs.

Luke Sides (1-2) was charged with the loss after surrendering three runs in relief during the sixth inning, which began the Tigers' surge.
