ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Reddies (23-27, 12-18) continued the three-game Battle of the Ravine against Ouachita today, securing the game one win 6-3, before falling 9-0 in game two.
Game One: Henderson State 6, OBU 3
Ouachita opened the game in the second inning with a two-run home run to take a 2-0 lead, before the Reddies responded in the top of the third.
Macy Hoskins opened the inning with a double before advancing to third on a single by
Mazzi Jones. After Jones stole second, the Reddies had runners on second and third. An error by Ouachita allowed
Tatum Bittick to reach first and advance to second, while Hoskins scored, and Jones advanced to third. A groundout double-play allowed Jones to score and the Reddies tied it 2-2.
The Reddies continued to put up runs in the fourth inning, taking the lead 5-2.
Sam Flores opened the inning with a single, before
Jay Albiter hit a bunt single to advance pinch runner
Kyndlee Clark to third on the play and an error. With two runners on base,
Paige Brandes launched a home run to deep center to score all three.
The Reddies would add an insurance run on a solo home run by
Josie Golden in the sixth inning, and would only give up one more run on a solo home run in the seventh inning to clinch the game win 6-3.
The Reddies recorded six runs on 10 hits.
Paige Brandes went 1-3 with a home run and three RBIs, while
Josie Golden went 1-3 with a home run.
Jersey Cabana (12-11) earned the start for the Reddies, pitching a complete game and giving up only three runs on four hits, while striking out one.
Game Two: Henderson State 0, OBU 9
In game two, Ouachita struck first again, scoring one run to take a 1-0 lead. They then extended their lead in the third inning, scoring four runs to lead 5-0 before scoring four more runs in the fourth to lead 9-0. Henderson State couldn't rally and fell 9-0 in game two after five innings.
The Reddies recorded three hits on the day.
Hilary Akers went 2-3 for the Reddies today.
Lacey Kelley (0-4) earned the start for the Reddies today, pitching 2.1 innings and gave up 5 runs on five hits.
Avery Howard pitched 1.2 innings in relief, striking out a batter.
