BENTONVILLE, Ark. - The Reddies season came to an end in the Great American Conference Tournament quarterfinals today, falling to one of the nation's top teams and closed the year with 26 victories and a postseason appearance after an impressive late-season push.
Henderson State faced the nationally ranked
Southern Arkansas University, and fell 8-0 in five innings.
Pitcher Jersey Cabana worked through the opening three innings and helped keep the game scoreless early before Southern Arkansas broke through with a five-run third inning. Presley Applegate entered in relief and recorded a strikeout while continuing to battle against a lineup that entered the postseason with 44 win.
Defensively, Henderson State turned in several solid plays in the field, committing no errors against a powerful Southern Arkansas offense that collected 11 hits. Josie Golden led the effort with three putouts at second base, while Hilary Akers contributed four defensive chances from third.
