PREP: McConnell hails from Warren High School in San Antonio, Texas, where he earned All-District 28-6A honors last year as a junior. . . The 6'9 forward averaged 8.6 points and 10 rebounds per game during the 2016-17 season, was second in the district in total rebounds with over 300 boards, and was second in double-doubles and third in blocked shots on the year.
