Guy Buls

Guy Buls completed his third season as the Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving assistant coach at Henderson State in 2023-24.

In year three in Arkadelphia, Buls helped the Red Wave men capture their best finish at Nationals in program history with a seventh-place finish, while also being a part of the men's first New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference Championship since the 2004-05 season.

Henderson State also saw its first ever female National Champion (Kiara Pozvai) during Buls' time with the Red Wave.

After his second season with the program which saw the Reddie men match their best finish at the National Championships in the NCAA era, Buls was invited to be an assistant coach at the World University Games in the summer of 2023, hosted in Chengdu, China.

Buls is an alum of Henderson State, having graduated in 2016. At HSU, Buls swam under the late Coak Matthews. As a four-year member of the Red Wave program, Buls served as the team captain and was named MVP of the team during his time. He also was named Academic All-Conference all four years.

Two years removed from his time as a Reddie, Buls served as a Seaman for the United States Coast Guard, working as a Junior Officer in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, from 2018-2020.
