Casey Smith enters her second season as the Graduate Assistant Coach for Reddie Tennis in the 2026-27 season.
In her first season, Smith aided in coaching a team that made the first GAC Championship match in school history, and only the second championship match in school history, which was in 2007 when Henderson State was in the Gulf South Conference.
Smith was instrumental in coaching a Henderson State team that only lost in doubles three times the entire season, including going undefeated in GAC play. Newcomer of the Year Emilia Nowak shined under Smith's guidance, as the Poznan, Poland native earned unanimous first team All-GAC honors in her first season as a Reddie. Nowak's partner Jordan Parker earned second Team All-GAC honors, and aided in a top duo that went 11-7, that ended the season as the #34 ranked duo by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in Division II Women's Tennis.
Smith attended Lewis University from 2020-2024, where she competed on the women’s tennis team for four years and led the team for three years as captain. At Lewis, she achieved multiple national rankings as a team and in doubles while picking up two GLVC Player of the Week recognitions. Smith also earned two GLVC All-Conference awards in 2023 and 2024 while earning three sportsmanship recognitions in 2021, 2022, and 2024.Â
The Portage, Michigan native graduated from Lewis with a B.S. in Applied Physics and a minor in Environmental Science. While earning her degree, she earned multiple awards for undergraduate research work in air quality monitoring and was recognized with the senior award for the physics department.
After completing her undergraduate degree, Smith worked as a tennis instructor in Ann Arbor.
