George Brooks begins his first year as Henderson State’s Athletic Academic Advisor in 2024-25.
A native of Allen, Texas, he is already familiar with the Great American Conference. A former defensive tackle, Brooks played at Arkansas Tech for four years (including the 2020 season suspended by COVID-19) after transferring from Northeastern State following his redshirt freshman year. He finished his collegiate career with 86 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.
During summers, Brooks coached a strength and conditioning program for high school athletes at Geno Pierce’s Performance Course. Conducting approximately 100 sessions per summer, he mentored multiple male and female Division I athletes.
After his playing days, Brooks served as a teaching graduate assistant for ATU’s Student Affairs and Administration program. Upon graduating with his master’s degree, he joined the university’s staff as an admissions officer covering southwest Arkansas and the entire state of Texas.
Brooks holds both a Bachelor of Science in Math Education and a Master of Science in Student Affairs and Administration from Arkansas Tech.
