Robert Redding enters his 17th year as Head Athletic Trainer and 12th year as an Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine at Henderson State in 2025-26.

Redding came to Henderson after serving two years as head athletic trainer at California Baptist University. During his time at CBU, Redding oversaw 400 student-athletes in 17 intercollegiate sports, supervised a staff of four certified athletic trainers and directed the operations of the athletic training department.

Redding spent four seasons as the head athletic trainer at Blinn Junior College in Brenham, Texas, working the 2004-05 season under current CBU athletic director Kevin Steele. While at Blinn, he coordinated care for more than 250 athletes in eight sports in addition to teaching courses in the kinesiology department.

Prior to his time at Blinn, Redding served as the head athletic trainer at Victoria High School from 1998-2000. He oversaw the development of the athletic training program, which included the addition of an assistant athletic trainer.

Redding earned his bachelor’s degree in genetics from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, in 1996. He earned his master’s of sports studies in sports management with an emphasis in sports medicine from the U.S. Sports Academy in 2007.

He received his athletic training certification from NATA in 1998 and is a certified American Red Cross CPR and First Aid instructor.
