Henderson State could not overcome some strong second half shooting by Harding as the Bisons beat the Reddies 89-71, Thursday in Searcy, Ark.
Harding, 6-5 overall and 3-2 in the Great American Conference, used 58 percent shooting in the second half and outrebounded the Reddies 39 to 24 to control the game.
Henderson State, 6-7 overall and 2-3 in the GAC, was led by
Deoirvay Johnson who had 26 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the field including knocking down 6-of-8 3-point field goals.
Kevin Kozan followed with 13 points and a team-best 5 rebounds, while
Charles Wesley totaled 11 points with the help of 5-of-6 field goals from beyond the 3-point arc.
Harding got a huge performance from Jacob Gibson who scored a game-high 36 points. Gibson was 14-of-23 from the field and converted on 8-of-16 from long range.
The Reddies shot 25-of-59 from the floor for 42 percent and was 9-of-11 from the foul line. Henderson sunk 12-of-24 from the 3-point line.
Harding shot 52 percent for the game, making 32-of-62 attempts. The Bisons were 12-of-31 from 3-point range and 13-of-16 from the charity stripe.
Henderson State will next play host to Arkansas Tech on Saturday with tipoff set for 4 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center.
