FULL RESULTS HEREHenderson State's men's and women's swimming teams opened the 2014-15 season with wins over Ouachita Baptist in the Battle of the Ravine, Friday at the Duke Wells Center.
Both teams won 10 of 13 events with the women beating OBU 131-84, while the men notched a 149-82 victory.
The Red Wave women opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay as the quartet of Rachel Mckenzie,
Camille Leary,
Mary Andrews, and
Sarah Medellin turned in a solid time of 1:53.54.
Jeanne Miller was Henderson's top individual performer having three first-place finishes in the 1000 freestyle (10:51.38), the 200 individual medley (2:14. 45), and the 100 butterfly (59.95).
Lauren Sutton claimed victory in the 100 and 200 freestyle events, having a time of 54.32 in the 100, and a mark of 1:58.13 in the 200.
Maddie Samples won the 50 freestyle with a mark of 25.41, while
Sarah Medellin placed third at 25.53.
Jessica Miller turned in a third-place finishes in the 200 individual medley (2:18.68) and the 500 freestyle (5:32.73).
McKenzie swam to victory in the 100 backstroke (1:00.68) and
Mary Andrews took second-place in the 100 butterfly (1:03.35).
Rachel Ferguson won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events having scores of 180.60 and 173. 25.
The Red Wave men also claimed victory in the 200 medley relay as the foursome of Guy Bols,
Matthew Gribble,
Max Pohl, and
Aaron Villemez clocked in at 1:37.10.
Colton Laramore cruised past the competition in the 1000 freestyle, touching the wall in a time of 9:57.72. Laramore also chalked up a win in the 500 freestyle (4:52.02)
Elliott Hill came up with win in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:48.39.
Arnold Hunter swam to a win in the 50 freestyle (21.89), narrowly edging out teammate
Max Pohl (21.99).
Pohl returned later to win the 100 butterfly in a time of 52.46, with
Will Waidhofer placing third (54.26).
Bols won the 200 individual medley (1:56.46), followed by
Dylan Anderson (2:02.68) and
Matthew Gribble (2:02.90).
Villemez took home a first in the 100 freestyle (49.02), with
Colton Holland coming in third (49.66).
Michael Pickich had a pair of third-place finishes in the 1000 freestyle (10:30.56) and the 500 freestyle (5:00.29).
Adam Zmijewski swept both diving events for the Red Wave having a score of 229.60 in the 1-meter, and 267.15 in the 3-meter event.
The Red Wave swim team will next travel to Conway, Ark. to take part in the Hendrix Relays on Friday, Oct. 31.
