Houston Ray has been named the Great American Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in last week's 63-14 win over Northwestern Oklahoma.
The freshman from Owensboro, Ky. set a Henderson State and GAC record for points by a kicker with 19 against the Rangers.
Ray had field goals of 27, 35, 38 and 39 yards to set a Henderson record for field goals in a game.
Ray, who leads the nation in field goals made per game (2.20), was also 7-for-7 on point after touchdowns.
On the year, Ray is 11-for-14 on field goals including going 3-for-3 on field goals of 40 yards or more with his longest being a 43-yard kick against Nicholls State.
He has been successful on 29-of-30 extra points and leads the GAC in scoring averaging 12.2 points per game.
Ray is tied for fifth in field goals made in a season at Henderson. Keith Bryan, who was a NAIA All-American for the Reddies in 1985, holds the single season record with 19 field goals on 25 attempts.
