RIVALS MEET IN THE SHORTEST ROAD TRIP IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL

The most anticipated game of the year will take place Saturday as No. 14 Henderson State will play host to No. 9 Ouachita Baptist in the 88th meeting of the Battle of the Ravine with kickoff slated for 3 p.m. at Carpenter-Haygood Stadium.
 
The SHORTEST in ALL of College Football will feature an undefeated OBU team that is 9-0 and has already claimed at least a share of the Great American Conference title, and a 9-1 Henderson State team that will attempt to tie OBU and claimed a third straight GAC championship.
 
Henderson's offense totaled 681 yards last week against Southern Arkansas and now ranks first in the GAC averaging 510.5 yards per game. Last year, the Reddies totaled 604 yards of offense including 460 yards passing in the 60-52 triple-overtime win over Ouachita Baptist.
           
Harlon Hill candidate Kevin Rodgers has completed 66.9 percent of his passes (255-of-381) for an average of 328.9 yards per game after last week's 509 yards passing against SAU.
 
The Reddie signal caller ranks sixth in NCAA Division II history in career passing yards. In 2013, Rodgers completed 29-of-43 passes for 460 yards and six touchdowns against the Tigers.

Rodney Bryson leads the Reddie rushing attack having totaled 639 yards and is averaging 63.9 yards per game and ranks ninth in the GAC. Jaquan Cole follows with 408 yards on 91 attempts having an average of 40.8 yards per contest.    

Darius Davis ranks second nationally in touchdown receptions with 18. The senior from Frisco, Texas has 51 catches for 1177 yards for an average of 117.7 yards per game.
 
Davis leads the nation in average yards per receptions with 23.1 yards per catch. Davis had nine receptions for a 136 yards and three touchdowns last year against OBU.              
Henderson's defense leads the GAC in sacks with 32 and in tackles for lost yardage with 85. Josh Davis leads the team with 72 tackles including seven for lost yardage. Lawson Schulz has totaled 56 tackles including 7.0 for losses, while Glennon Bobo has 43 stops including a team-best 14.5 tackles for negative yards.
 
Ouachita Baptist is 9-0 for the first time in 100 years and are ranked No. 2 in the latest NCAA Super Region 3 rankings. The top six teams in the region will earn a trip to the NCAA Division II playoffs which begin November 22.
 
OBU has one of the top scoring teams in the Great American Conference averaging 36.6 points per game. The Tigers average 414.7 yards of total offense averaging 234.6 yards rushing which ranks second in the GAC.

Quarterback Kiehl Frazier has completed 117-of-197 passes and averages 175.4 yards per game. The senior transfer from Auburn is also a major running threat having carried the ball 98 times for 574 yards, an average of 63.8 yards per game.
 
Steven Kehner is one of the top running backs in the GAC averaging 106.0 yards per game. Kehner has carried the ball 191 times for 954 yards and has scored 13 touchdowns. Last year Kehner carried the ball 12 times for 47 yards against the Reddies.  

Ke'Vontae Pope is the Tigers' leading receiver having 31 catches for 514 yards which ranks sixth in the GAC. Pope is averaging 57.1 yards per game and has totaled three touchdown receptions. Jalen Jones is another threat at wide receiver having 32 receptions for 326 yards.
           
The Ouachita Baptist defense allows just 18.0 points per game and ranks fifth in total defense allowing 372.2 yards per contest.
 
Linebacker Mike Williamson leads the OBU defense with 59 tackles including 4.0 tackles for lost yardage. Zack Mitchell is one of the top defensive backs in the nation having 39 tackles and five interceptions this season.

After 87 games played, HSU leads the series 42-39-6 with the Reddies winning the last four. The first game played between the two institutions was in 1895 when then Ouachita College beat Arkadelphia Methodist College, 8-0 on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28.

Prior to kickoff, Henderson State will honor 14 seniors and four graduate students playing their final regular-season game at Carpenter-Haygood Stadium.
 
Among those being recognized are Dijon Benton, John Guerra, Carlos Arredondo, Marc Gonzalez, Jimmy Jean, Jason Smith, Zack Richardson, Mike Meador, Charles Plaster, Wesley Brady, Cameron Devereaux, Chris King, Blake Lopez, Christian Latoof, Dustin Holland, Glennon Bobo, Darius Davis, and Kevin Rodgers.
           
This year's class helped lead Henderson State to two Great American Conference championships, two NCAA post season appearances and compiled a record of 36-8 including a 30-2 record in GAC play. The class consists of seven all-conference selections and two All-Americans.
