REDDIE  BASKETBALL RETURNS TO GAC PLAY

Henderson State returns to the court for the first time in two weeks as the Reddies travel to Magnolia to take on Southern Arkansas in Great American Conference afternoon at the Watson Athletic Center.
 
The women are set to tip off at 2 p.m., with the men to follow at 4 p.m.
 
The Henderson State women's team will be looking for its first Great American Conference victory of the season.

HSU (2-9, 0-5 GAC) hopes to rebound after a 93-68 loss to non-conference opponent Arkansas-Fort Smith on Dec. 20, where the Reddies shot just 22 percent from the field, making 15-of-67 attempts.

Aungelique Sledge finished the game with 23 points on 7-of-18 attempts from the field, including 3-of-8 from beyond-the-arc. She also led the Reddies with 8 rebounds.
Sledge leads Henderson State averaging 17.4 points per game this season, and needs just 11 points to eclipse 1000 career-point total, something only nine Reddies have done in the past.

Senior guard Jasmine Settles finished with 15 points in her first action of the season, making four 3-pointers, while Dulincia Keener pitched in 14 points and pulled down 8 boards.

The Lady Muleriders (4-7, 2-3 GAC) are coming off a 73-50 road loss at Division I opponent Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday.

SAU is led by Rosa Bryant, who averages 12.7 points per game, along with 5.6 rebounds per game.

Chanel Miller also averages in double digit scoring with 11.5 points per game.

The Lady Muleriders average 61.8 points per game, while the Reddies average 61.4.

The Reddie men bring a 6-5 record into the contest and a 3-2 conference record.
 
Henderson State lost its last two games before the break and is looking to start off 2015 on a positive note.
 
The Reddies are averaging 72.0 points per game and are shooting 46.1 percent from the field.
 
Kevin Kozan leads the Reddies in scoring averaging 14.4 points per game. The sophomore from New Lenox, Ill. is averaging 17.0 points per game in the last five games. For the year, Kozan is shooting 51 percent from the field, including 45 percent from beyond the arc making 32-of-71 three-point field goals.
 
Reggie Murphy follows averaging 13.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
 
Micah Walker is averaging 10.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per contest. Walker has total 40 points in the last two games including 22 points against Harding.  

Southern Arkansas enters Saturday's game having a 6-4 overall record and a 3-2 mark in GAC play.
 
The Muleriders are coming off a 79-65 win over Williams Baptist on Decemver 31.          
SAU averages 74.8 points per game with the Muleriders shooting 44 percent from the field.
 
Three players average double-figures for SAU with Chauncy Williams leading the team in scoring at 14.0 points per game. Williams leads the team in 3-point shooting ,aking 35-of-79 attempts for 44 percent.
 
Jaron Davis follows averaging 13.1 points. Davis is also a solid long range shooter, converting on 28-of-69 3-pointers.           

Also averaging double-figures is Alre'k Brown who is scoring at a 12.7 clip while leading the team in rebounding, averaging 8.4 boards per game.
