Henderson State opened the 2015 swimming season and turned in a solid performance against NCAA Division I opponents.
The Red Wave men lost to St. Louis 174-124, while the Red Wave women came up short against Little Rock 170-112, and St. Louis 198-93.
On the men's side, the 200 medley relay team of
Hunter Arnold, Joshua Lawson,
Max Pohl and
Caleb Murders took the top spot with a time of 1:35.52.
Colton Laramore placed second in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:08.19, while
Guy Buls swam to a first-place finish in the 100 backstroke touching the wall in 54.19.
Joshua Lawson won both breaststroke events winning the 100 breaststroke with a time of 58.58, followed by a victory in the 200 breaststroke clocking in at 2:09.15.
Kameron Brown took first-place in both diving events winning the 1 meter dive with a score of 222.55, and the 3-meter board with 230.55.
Adam Zmijewski was second in the 1-meter (214.05) and third in the 3-meter (148.75).
Pohl placed second in the 200 butterfly (1:57.72) as well as the 100 butterfly (51.49), while Murders was second in the 50 freestyle (21.76).
Also recording a second-place finish was Buls in the 200 backstroke (1:58.43)
Lindsey Butler led the women taking first-place in the 100 backstroke with an impressive time of 59.10 as well as the 50 freestyle 25.13. Butler also took a second-place finish in the 200 backstroke (2:08.11).
Sarah Helton was Henderson's other winner by taking the top spot in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.94.
Sarah Medellin was second in the 100 freestyle (55.07).
