Reddies Volleyball Wins Second Straight, Beats East Central 3-2

Henderson State won its second straight Great American Conference volleyball match as the Reddies beat East Central 3-2, Saturday in Arkadelphia, Ark.

The Reddies defeated Southeastern Oklahoma on Friday, before beating the Tigers by scores of 21-25, 25-13, 25-19, 22-25 and 15-9 at the Duke Wells Center.

After losing the first set, Henderson rebounded to capture set two as the Reddies compiled 10 kills led by Kaylie Pyles' four winners. Pyles served out the final seven points of the set, while Sydney Skelton had five key defensive digs in the set.

ECU used a .429 attack percentage to win set three and take a 2-1 lead in the match.

Again the Reddies rallied to win the fourth set and tie the match. Jessie Jacoby collected eight kills to spark Henderson, while Pyles added six more kills.

With the set tied at 22-22, Henderson scored three straight points with Pyles having two winners while Jacoby added a spike of her own to tie the match.

In the decisive set, Juliana Adams served seven straight points as ECU committed six straight attack errors to put Henderson on top 9-4.

The Tigers rallied to cut the deficit to 12-9, but a service ace by Brea May and another ECU attack error set up Jacoby's game-winning spike to win the match.

Pyles led the way with 20 kills in the match for the Reddies, while Jacoby added 16 spikes.

May finished with 35 set assists while Shelton had a big defensive game with 29 digs.
