The Henderson State women's basketball team fell at in non-conference action at Southwest Baptist 80-78 on Friday night in Bolivar, Mo.

With 21 seconds remaining, HSU's Brittany Branum knocked home a three-point basket to narrow the SBU lead to three making the score 77-74, but the Reddies were unable to get a stop in the final seconds as the teams traded free throws down the final stretch.

Torrie Thompson also downed a three-point basket for the Reddies to make the score 80-78 as time expired.

HSU held a 65-64 lead at the 5:28 mark before SBU would tie the game on a free throw and then eventually take the lead for the remainder of the contest on a Megan Rosenbohm jumper at the 4:35 mark.

The Reddies led by as much as five in the second half as Megan Hartness nailed a 3-pointer at the 7:07 mark of the fourth quarter to make the score 65-60 in favor of the Reddies.

Haleigh Henson led all Reddie scorers with 30 points on 8-of-15 attempts including 5-of-9 from the three-point line and 9-of-10 at the charity stripe.

Dulincia Keener also pitched in 14 points and seven boards, while Hartness contributed 10 points.

Branum led all HSU rebounders pulling down 11 boards on the night.

HSU made 23-of-52 attempts from the field in the contest for 44 percent, while SBU was 28-of-62 for 45 percent.

The Reddies edged out the Bearcats in the rebounding category 36 to 35.

Henderson State also knocked down 23-of-30 free throws in the contest for 77 percent, while also making 9-of-16 three-point attempts for 56 percent.
