REDDIES PLAY HOST TO SNU IN BASKETBALL DOUBLE HEADER

The Henderson State men's and women's basketball teams return home Thursday as the Reddies play host to Southern Nazarene at the Duke Wells Center.
 
The women are set to tipoff at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow at 7:30 p.m.
 
Last week, the Henderson State University Athletics Department celebrated the 29th Annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
 
In conjunction with NGWSD, all local girls in grades K-through-8 attending Thursday's game will receive free admission.
 
Earlier this season, the Henderson State women beat Southern Nazarene 84-67 in Bethany, Okla.                                   

The Reddies got big performances from Aungelique Sledge, Haleigh Henson and Victoria Stewart as the three accounted for 75 percent of the scoring.

Sledge recorded a double-double having 21 points while grabbing 12 rebounds, while Henson had a career-high 21 points and 7 assists. Stewart ended the night with 19 points including going 5-of-7 from 3-point range.                                                              
 
Henderson State enters the game averaging 69.4 points per game during conference play this season, shooting 42 percent from the field and 34 percent from 3-point range.

Sledge leads the team in scoring this season averaging 19.4 points per game, and has poured in 58 points in her last two games at East Central (31) and Southeastern Oklahoma (27).  
 
Dulincia Keener has posted three double-double efforts in the last seven games. Keener averages 10.1 points and 6.5 boards per contest,
 
Henson is one of the league's top 3-point shooters made 55-of-158 trifectas. The freshman from Greenwood, Ark. averages 11.2 points per game this season.
 
Southern Nazarene enters the game with a 7-14 overall and 4-11 GAC record.
 
The Crimson Storm has relied on Aminata Fall and Abby Boyd this season. Fall ranks second in the GAC in scoring and first in rebounding, averaging 20.0 points per game to go along with 11.5 rebounds.
Boyd averages 13.5 points per game, and leads the team in assists at 3.2 per game.
The Henderson State men enters the contest with a 9-12 overall record and a 6-9 record in GAC play following a 65-61 loss to Southeastern last Saturday.    
 
The Reddies are currently eighth in the GAC standings. The top eight teams advance to the GAC Tournament.
 
Reggie Murphy has recorded three double-doubles in the last five contests. Murphy scored 17 points and had 8 rebounds in the first game against SNU.
 
The senior from Los Angeles scored a career-high 35 points and pulled down 13 rebounds against UAM. Murphy is averaging 13.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
 
Kevin Kozan leads the Reddies in scoring averaging 14.3 points per game. Kozan scored a game-high 21 points, all in the second-half against the Crimson Storm earlier this year.
 
Micah Walker is averaging 9.8 points per game. Walker scored 14 points and had 7 rebounds against SNU in the first game.
           
Southern Nazarene has a 12-9 overall record and an 8-7 mark in the GAC following a 77-69 win over Southern Arkansas.
 
LB Willis leads the Storm in scoring averaging 13.8 points per game. Willis scored 15 points and dished out 5 assists in the first meeting against the Reddies.
 
Frabcisco Hukill follows averaging 12.1 points while leading the team in rebounding at 6.2 boards per contest. Hukill earned GAC Player of the Week honors for his performance last week against UAM and SAU combining for 32 points and 12 rebounds.
 
CJ Rodriguez is also scoring in double-figures scoring 10.6 points per contest.   


The Reddies will have to keep Garrett Butler from getting hot from beyond the 3-point arc. Butler is the squad best long-range shooter having hit 49-of-113 trays for 43 percent.
