Keener Scores 1000th Career Points As HSU Beats OBU

Dulincia Keener scored her 1000th career point and led Henderson State to an 82-69 win over Ouachita Baptist, Monday at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia. Ark.
 
Keener scored a game high 26 points and became the 11th player in HSU history to reach the milestone. The senior from Texarkana, Ark, was 12-of-18 from the field and pulled down five rebounds,
 
Five Reddies scored double-figures including Torrie Thompson who tied her career-high with 17 points while making 5-of-7 three-point field goals.
 
Victoria Stewart, Haleigh Henson, and Moe Bedford had 10 points each in the win.
 
Ouachita held an 18-17 lead after the first quarter as Katie Kapler scored 9 points to pace the Tigers in the opening 10 minutes.
 
Henderson got things going in the second quarter as Keener scored the first five points of the period while Stewart and Thompson both hit 3-point field goals to put the Reddies on top 28-22 with 6:33 left in the first half.
 
Bree Bossier would enter the game and score a pair of layups, and jumpers by Henson and Stewart would help Henderson to a 36-28 advantage with under two minutes left in the half.
 
MaKyndra Simmons would add a conventional 3-point play Moe Bedford would score the final four points of the half as the Reddies take a 43-33 lead into the locker room at the break.
 
OBU would outscore the Reddies in the third quarter, but Henderson would take control in the final 10 minutes to pull away from the Tigers.
 
Both teams put up some impressive shooting numbers as OBU connected on 52.8 percent from the field making 28-of-53 shots.
 
Henderson hit on 53.1 percent converting 34-of-64 attempts.
 
Henderson will next place host to Arkansas Tech on Thursday with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center.
