Henderson State cruised to a 78-61 Great American Conference victory over Southern Nazarene on Thursday evening at the Duke Wells Center.
The Reddies improved to 8-4 in GAC play with the win, and knocked down 11-of-30 attempts from the three point line while holding SNU to just 2-of-14 from beyond-the-arc.
HSU held a 39-32 lead at the break, and would out-score Southern Nazarene(3-9 GAC) 22-to-10 in the final quarter of play to cruise to victory.
In the fourth quarter, HSU outscored SNU 12-to-2 in the paint, and were led by senior
Dulincia Keener on the night with 20 points.
The Texarkana, Ark. native knocked down 6-of-14 attempts from the field and 7-of-12 free-throw attempts in the win, and also pulled down 11 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season.
Keener has now scored in double-figures in all but two games this season.
Victoria Stewart also had a strong night for the Reddies, as she pitched in 17 points including knocking down 4-of-8 three-point attempts, while
Torrie Thompson also knocked down four treys and contributed 15 points.
Freshman
Brittany Branum was one point shy of a double-double effort, as the Greenwood, Ark. native scored nine points and pulled down a career-high 14 boards, as HSU out-rebounded SNU 47-to-39.
Also pitching in nine points was junior
Moe Bedford, as she pulled down five rebounds and dished out three assists on the night.
HSU forced 14 Crimson Storm turnovers in the contest, while committing just 11(six below their season average.)
On the night, Henderson State finished the game making 25-of-26 attempts from the field for 39 percent, and also made 17-of-26 free-throw attempts.
The Reddies limited SNU to 22-of-59 from the field for 37 percent.
SNU was led by Abby Boyd on the night with 19 points, while Kandyce Freeman contributed 12 and Rachel Doerneman had 11.
The Reddies return to action on Saturday to take on Oklahoma Baptist, with tipoff slated for 1 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center.
