Henderson State began its weekend road trip with a three set sweep of East Central beating the Tigers 26-24, 26-24 and 25-20, Friday in Ada, Okla.
The Reddies improved to 10-10 overall and 5-3 in the Great American Conference while the Tigers fell to 5-15 and 3-5.
In game one, Henderson built a 19-15 lead before ECU rallied for six straight points to take a 21-19 advantage.
Leila Whaley put an end to the Tiger run with a kill, but again ECU would go on top 24-22 needing just one more point to take the opening set.
Henderson stole the set from the Tigers scoring four straight points with the help of three straight kills by
Sharon Tukuaoga and the set winning attack by
Gabby Ginapp.
The Reddies would build a 16-12 lead in set two, but again ECU was on the verge of winning as the Tigers rallied to take a 24-21 advantage.
Again Henderson scored five straight points to win the set as Tukuaoga provided three more winning spikes down the stretch.
The Reddies never trailed in set three as Henderson jumped out to an 11-4 lead and never looked back. Three kills each by
Haley Higgins,
Jessie Jacoby and Ginapp helped lead to the win,
Tukuaoga compiled an astonishing .500 attack percentage having a team best 17 kills to go along with four blocks.
Higgins had nine attack winners along with 30 set assists and five blocks, while Ginapp had eight kills and four blocks.
Sydney Skelton led Henderson defensively with 34 digs.
As a team, Henderson hit .215 while compiling a total of 10 blocks.
The Reddies will complete their weekend in Oklahoma on Saturday as they take on Southeastern Oklahoma in Durant, Okla. with the first serve set for 1 p.m.
