The Henderson State swimming and diving teams return to action on Friday, Oct. 21 as the Red Wave hosts Ouachita Baptist in the first installment of the Battle of the Ravine.
Diving competition begins at 5 p.m. with swimming events getting started at 5:45 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center.
Henderson began its season last week at the Little Rock Invitational with the men finishing second and the women fifth.
Bogdan Pochynok leads the Red Wave men after claiming Henderson's lone individual win by claiming the 100 backstroke in a time of 52.50. Pochynok also had a fifth-place finish in the 200 backstroke touching the wall in 2:00.47.
Colton Laramore is also expected to have a big meet. Laramore won the 500 freestyle title at last year's New South Intercollegiate Swimming Conference Championships with a time of 4:32.35. The senior from Edmond, Okla. finished second in the 200 freestyle with a mark of 1:39.03 while also scoring in the 100 and 1000 freestyle events.
Also expecting to have a huge impact are
Hunter Arnold,
Erwan Mahoudo and
Caleb Murders.
Arnold placed second last week in the 50 freestyle (21.70) and was third in the 100 freestyle (48.10), while Mahoudo finished third in 200 backstroke (1:59.34) and Murders third in 50 freestyle (22.00).
Lindsey Butler,
Sarah Helton and
Grace Conlon will be some of the key competitors for the women.
Butler was the top performer for the Red Wave last week placing fourth in the 50 freestyle (24.92), eighth in the 100 backstroke (59.65), seventh in 100 freestyle (54.29).
Helton was seventh in 100 breaststroke (1:09.83), while Conlon was seventh in the 1000 freestyle (11:13.39).
Veterans
Maddie Samples and
Zoe Peak will pace Henderson in the relays.
