Despite 11 kills from sophomore
Sharon Tukuaoga and a 23 assist, 10 dig double-double from freshman
Sariah Boney, Henderson State fell on Friday night to Oklahoma Baptist 3-0 (18-25, 22-25, 22-25).
The Bison got off to a fast start in the first set, breaking open an 8-1 lead and forcing a Henderson timeout. The Reddies fought to get back into the game, once cutting it to 18-12, but never got any closer, as OKBU took the first frame 25-18.
Things were neck-and-neck throughout the second game, with neither team holding more than a two-point advantage throughout most of the contest. The Reddies finally seized momentum, taking a 22-20 lead, but after a Bison timeout, OKBU went on a back-breaking 5-0 run to take the second set 25-22.
Game three proved to be close at the start as well, but with things tied at 10-10, OKBU went on an 11-5 run to push Henderson to the brink. With their backs against the wall, the Reddies showed fight and cut the six point lead down to one at 23-22, but it was not to be, as the Bison took the final two points to win the set 25-22 and the match 3-0.
