Henderson State combined for 10 team blocks and took advantage of 10 service error as the Reddies beat Southern Nazarene 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 26-24, and 25-23) Saturday in Arkadelphia, Ark.
Sharon Tukuagoa collected 12 kills in the match with
Gabby Ginapp adding 10 while building a .429 attack percentage to lead the Reddies.
Henderson, 9-10 overall and 4-3 in the Great American Conference, trailed 11-6 in the first set but a pair of kills by
Adrianna Hartmann and
Jessie Jacoby helped propel the Reddies to go on a 9-2 run and rally for the win.
In set two, the Reddies led 20-17, however SNU would score five unanswered points and hold on to win 25-22.
Again Henderson fell behind in both the third and fourth sets, but would fight back behind the serving of
Sariah Boney and blocking by Ginapp, Tukuagoa and Hartmann.
Ginapp would finish the third set off with a service ace, while Tukuaoga and
Haley Higgins would provide the game winning block in set four.
Higgins would total 33 set assists for the Reddies, while
Sydney Skelton added 30 defensive digs.
The Reddies will travel to Ada. Okla. next Friday to face East Central with the first serve set for 7 p.m.
