Haley Higgins dished out 34 assists, but the Henderson State volleyball team fell 3-0 (20-25, 21-25, 20-25) to Harding on Thursday night in Searcy, Arkansas.
The first set started off promisingly for the Reddies, as they jumped out to a quick 7-1 lead. However, with Henderson up 19-13 the Lady Bisons went on a back-breaking 12-1 run to snatch momentum and the first game away from the Reddies, 25-20.
Game two was all Harding at the start, as they opened on a 12-7 run which was eventually extended to a 23-15 lead. The Reddies did their best to rally, cutting the lead to 23-21 with a 6-0 spurt, but the Lady Bisons took the final two points to end the comeback attempt and take the second set 25-21.
Needing to win the third set to stay alive in the match, Henderson came out strong and took an 8-5 lead early. Harding would answer, though, as they went on a quick 6-0 run to retake an 11-8 advantage. Henderson did its best to chip away at the lead, and cut the deficit to 15-14, but the Lady Bisons finished the set on a 10-6 run to win the game 25-20 and the match 3-0.
The loss drops the Reddies to 7-7 in Great American Conference play on the year with two conference matches remaining. Henderson has already clinched a spot in the GAC Tournament in Hot Springs, Arkansas on Nov. 17-19.
The Reddies' next match is against Arkansas-Monticello on Tuesday, Nov. 8 in Monticello, Arkansas. Henderson's final home match of the season is Thursday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. against Southern Arkansas in the Duke Wells Center.
