Henderson State closed out 2016 winning its fourth straight game as the Reddies beat Paul Quinn 103-77, Saturday at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia, Ark.
Four Reddies scored in double-figures led by
Chris Hawkins who had a double-double. Hawkins finished with 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field while pulling down 11 rebounds.
Kaylon Tappin and
Kevin Kozan had 16 points each with Kozan scoring four buckets from beyond the 3-point arc.
Brad Nairn also reached double-figures with 11 points while grabbing four rebounds.
The Reddies, 8-2 on the year, jumped out to a quick 9-2 lead with Tappin providing all the scoring for Henderson in the first three minutes.
Hawkins led the Reddies in the opening half scoring 12 points while having 6 rebounds as Henderson took a 46-27 lead into the locker room at the break.
The Reddies continued their dominance in the second-half as Henderson cleared the bench with 16 players seeing action.
Henderson eclipsed the 100-point mark for the third time as
Jordan Vance came off the bench and hit back-to-back buckets.
Also having a big game was
Matt Panaggio who had 8 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists.
Ben Marello added 9 points and 6 boards.
Henderson finished the game shooting 49 percent from the field knocking down 39-of-80 shots from the floor, while Paul Quinn converted on 31-of-63 shots for 49 percent.
Henderson State will resume Great American Conference play on Thursday when the Reddies host Southwestern Oklahoma with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center.
