Box Score A blistering shooting performance from Southern Arkansas propelled the Muleriders past Henderson State on Thursday night in a 85-61 Great American Conference matchup at the Duke Wells Center.
The Muleriders finished the contest shooting an impressive 50 percent from the field, knocking down 34-of-68 attempts including 7-of-21 from beyond-the-arc.
HSU would trail 37-25 at the break before being outscored 48-36 in the final half of play.
Henderson State finished the game connecting on 11-of-25 free throw attempts, while Southern Arkansas was 10-of-14 at the line.
The Reddies had three players score in double figures on the night, as
Tavian Pomlee and
Kaylon Tappin each pitched in 11 points to lead the way for HSU.
Matt Panaggio also had a strong outing, pouring in ten points and ripping down seven boards.
Also stuffing the stat column was
Alioune Mboup, as the senior post from Dakhar, Senegal scored eight points and hauled in a team-high 12 boards.
The Muleriders edged out the Reddies in the rebounding column 45-to-38, while HSU forced ten turnovers and committed 11 in the contest.
Leading the way for SAU was Denarious Lockhart, as the big man contributed 17 points, while De'Sean Dockery had 15.
HSU will look to rebound on Saturday, with tipoff set for 3 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center against Arkansas-Monticello in GAC action.
