Missouri Western clubbed out 15 hits in beating Henderson State 9-2, Friday at the HSU Invitational at Clyde Berry Field in Arkadelphia, Ark.
Cosimo Cannella went 5-for-6 and collected four runs batted in, while Orencio Fisher and Jeremy Alverado each had home runs for the Griffons.
Henderson State, 3-5 on the year, totaled five hits with
Alan Hall going 2-for-4 while
Jared Gage had a two run homer.
Also having hits for the Reddies were
Tadarious Hawkins and
Kearon Redmon.
Weston Caindec pitched 6 2/3 innings for MWSU to get the win and improve to 1-1 on the year.
The Reddies used four pitchers with
Chris Hunt getting the start and pitching 5 innings striking out four batters in being tabbed with the loss.
Logan DeRosier pitched 2 1/3 innings striking out three batters with
Josh Henderson pitching 1 1/3 innings and
Beau Shelby getting the final out with a strike out.
Henderson will take on Arkansas-Fort Smith on Saturday with first pitch at Clyde Berry Field set for 6 p.m.
