A record-breaking performance from
Dulincia Keener helped spark the Reddies to a 70-56 victory over Arkansas-Monticello in Great American Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Duke Wells Center.
Keener had a career night, as the senior Texarkana native moved into the all-time lead for rebounds in a career, breaking Aesha Carter's record of 741.
In the contest, Keener poured in a whopping 30 points to go along with 20 boards, as she now has 743 rebounds in her career as a Reddie.
Henderson State(9-8 GAC) used a 21 point performance in the fourth quarter to pull away with victory after trailing 33-31 at the half.
HSU outscored Monticello(8-9 GAC) 39-23 in the second half, and finished the game with 42 points in the paint while limiting UAM to 16.
The Reddie out-rebounded the Cotton Blossoms 42-to-31, and finished the game shooting 47 percent from the field making 27-of-57 attempts.
From the three-point line, HSU was 4-of-11, as
Haleigh Henson knocked down all four attempts for HSU scoring 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting and 4-of-6 from beyond-the-arc.
Also scoring in double-figures for HSU was
Victoria Stewart, as the senior pitched in 11 points on 3-of-9 shooting and knocked down 5-of-7 free throw attempts.
From the charity stripe, HSU was 12-of-17 for 71 percent, while UAM knocked down 7-of-8 of its attempts for 88 percent.
Henderson State also got a strong performance from
Lexis Weber, as the freshman forward contributed seven points and ripped down 12 boards for the Reddies, including ten on the defensive end.
UAM was led by Jordan Goforth who pitched in 21 points, while Nikki Mullen contributed 17 as both players each knocked down three treys while Monticello was 9-of-23 from the three-point line.
The Reddies return to GAC action on Monday with a trip across the street, taking on Ouachita Baptist with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
