HSU Hosts Southwestern Oklahoma Thursday at The Duke Wells Center

Henderson State returns to the court on Thursday as the Reddies play host to Southwestern Oklahoma with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center.     

Henderson handed Southwestern Oklahoma its first conference loss of the season back on Jan. 7 as the Reddies beat the Bulldogs 77-52 in Weatherford, Okla.
           
The Reddies, 6-19 overall and 5-15 in the Great American Conference, are coming off a 74-58 loss to Harding last Saturday. Henderson is looking to snap a three-game losing skid. The Reddies have been outscored by an average of 12 points in the last three games.  

Kaylon Tappin leads the Reddies in scoring averaging 13.5 points per contest. Tappin was limited to 6 points last Saturday against the Bisons. Tappin scored 13 points earlier this year against SWOSU.       
 
Kevin Kozan was held scoreless for the first time this year against Harding. The junior from New Lenox, Ill. averages 12.4 points per game.                    

Tavian Pomlee averages 9.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game after scoring 6 points and grabbing 5 rebounds against the Bisons. Pomlee totaled a team-high 17 points while having 8 rebounds on Jan. 7 against SWOSU.     

Southwestern Oklahoma enters the contest with a 16-10 record overall and a 12-8 mark in league play.  SWOSU averages 75.6 points and shoots 42 percent from the field.
 
Martrell Collins leads the Bulldogs averaging 18.8 points per game which is tops in the GAC. Last year Collins totaled 25 points and 13 rebounds against the Reddies in the Duke Wells Center.
 
Markeise Champion follows averaging 14.0 points per contest and is the team's big 3-point threat. Champion leads the GAC with 82 made three-pointers this season.
 
Collin Jennings is also a scoring threat averaging 9.5 points per game. Jennings scored 12 points last Saturday for his fifth double-digit scoring performance in the past seven games
 
Southwestern Oklahoma leads the all-time series with Henderson having a 6-4 advantage in a series which dates back to 2012. Henderson snapped a four game losing skid to SWOSU with a 77-52 in Weatherford on Jan. 7.

Thursday's double-header will be carried on 106.9 FM KYXK Arkadelphia/Gurdon with R.J. Hawk (@RJHawk) providing the play-by-play. Color commentary for the women's game provided by Athletics Media Relations Assistant Hunter Lively (@HLively). Former Reddie player and coach Grady Bean will provide the color commentary for the men's game.
 
The Domino's pregame show will air 5:15 p.m. with the women's game set for 5:30 p.m.

NOTE:
Henderson State Men's Basketball will host their inaugural Basketball Lettermen's Reunion Saturday, February 27th.  Lettermen are invited to join the team on senior day as the Reddies take on Northwestern Oklahoma State at 3 p.m.

At the conclusion of the game there will be Lettermen reception in the donor room within Carpenter-Haywood Fieldhouse. Lettermen are encouraged to RSVP via email to Lenette Jones joneslc@hsu.edu, to ensure their name is on the pass list for the game.
