Henderson State shot an impressive 43 percent from the field and got a career high 24 points from
Tavian Pomlee, as the Reddies cruised to a 75-56 victory over Southwestern Oklahoma in Great American Conference action on Thursday night in Arkadelphia.
Pomlee finished the contest knocking down 9-of-18 shot attempts including 4-of-8 from three, and also pulled down 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Kaylon Tappin also contributed 12 points for HSU, while
Kevin Kozan pitched in 11 to round out the double-digit scorers, and also had five assists.
The Reddies led 35-26 at the break after receiving 20 first half points from Pomlee and never had their lead challenged in the second half as they outscored SWOSU 40-30 in the final period.
From the field, the Reddies knocked down 26-of-60 attempts including 10-of-30 from three-point range, while SWOSU made 19-of-57 attempts for 33 percent and were just 6-of-29 from beyond-the-arc for 21 percent.
HSU also dished out 15 team assists in the contest, while limiting SWOSU to just four.
The Reddies forced 18 turnovers from the Bulldogs, while only committing 10 in the contest, and completed their first season sweep of a conference opponent since Southern Arkansas in the 2013-2014 season.
The Reddies out-classed the Bulldogs scoring 26 points off turnovers to just six for SWOSU, and also scored 22 points in the paint while the Bulldogs scored just 16.
SWOSU was led by Emeche Wells with 14 points, while Juwan Newmen pitched in 12 points and pulled down 12 boards.
Henderson State returns to action on Saturday for its final game of the season against Northwestern Oklahoma, with tipoff set for 3 p.m.
