Reddies Take On Northwestern Oklahoma In Final Game

Henderson State will play its final game of the season Saturday as the Reddies play host to Northwestern Oklahoma with tip-off set for 3 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center.
 
The Reddies are coming off an impressive 75-56 win over Southwestern Oklahoma on Thursday. Henderson will attempt to win back-to-back conference games for the first time this season.     
 
Tavian Pomlee recorded a double-double against the Bulldogs scoring 24 points while pulling down 10 rebounds. The senior from Davenport, Iowa bolstered his average to 10.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Pomlee scored 13 points and had 8 rebounds in the first game against NWOSU.       

Kaylon Tappin leads the Reddies in scoring averaging 13.4 points per contest. Tappin scored 12 points in Thursday's win over SWOSU. 
 
Kevin Kozan totaled 11 points and hit three 3-point field goals last time out. The junior from New Lenox, Ill. averages 12.3 points per game and leads the team with 56 three-point field goals.                
             
Northwestern Oklahoma enters the contest with a 9-16 record overall and a 9-12 mark in league play. The Rangers have lost their last three games including a 95-88 loss to Ouachita Baptist on Thursday.
 
Adrian Motley leads the Rangers averaging 17.9 points per game which ranks fourth in the GAC. Motley also leads the team in rebounding and is fifth in the GAC at 7.8 boards per game. Motley scored 12 points and pulled down 9 rebounds earlier this year against the Reddies.
 
Zach Dumas follows averaging 10.9 points per contest. Dumas was one of four players to score in double-figures in the first game against HSU having 11 points.
 
T'aries Taylor is also a scoring threat averaging 10.8 points per game. Taylor is NWOSU's 3-point scoring threat having made 44-of-120 attempts this season. 
 
Northwestern Oklahoma leads the all-time series with Henderson having a 5-2 advantage in a series which dates back to 2013. The Rangers have won the last four meetings including a 64-56 win on Jan. 6 this year in Alva. Okla.
Henderson will honor its three seniors prior to tipoff as Aaron Cooper, Alouine Mboup and Tayvian Pomlee will suit up in a Reddie uniform for the final time.
 
Cooper has averaged 8.1 points per game and collected nearly 100 assists during his career at Henderson. A two-year letterman, Cooper scored a career-high 22 points against Texas A&M Commerce earlier this season.

Alioune Mboup has played two seasons for the Reddies and is averaging 5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Mboup pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds against Southern Nazarene and recorded a double-double at Southwestern Oklahoma with career high 14 points along with 10 rebounds.     

Tayvian Pomlee came to Henderson from the University of South Dakota. Pomlee is averaging 10.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game this season. The product of Davenport, Iowa, Pomlee has nailed 36 3-point field goals and pulled down 142 rebounds on the year.

Saturday's double-header will be carried on 106.9 FM KYXK Arkadelphia/Gurdon with R.J. Hawk (@RJHawk) providing the play-by-play. Former Reddie player and coach Grady Bean will provide the color commentary for the men's game.
 
The Domino's pregame show will air 12:45 p.m. with the women's game set for 1 p.m.
